Kwaku-T was born Kwaku A. Tutu to Ashanti parents in Kumawu, a small village on the suburbs of Kumasi, Ghana. His family moved to New York in the early 80’s. It is here that Kwaku spent his formative years until he moved back to Accra as a teenager. Coming of age in Ghana in the early 90’s he formed the rap group Talking Drums with his partner Abeeku Ribeiro.
Over the past two decades, while travelling around the world, he has been involved in a series of projects that have led to the establishment of various music labels, both Ghanaian and international, to all of which he is partnered. Among these are Warrior Music ( Atlanta, Georgia), Pidgen Music (Ghana) and currently Higher-Life Music, which is his most recent independent label project as well as the name he has given to his personal genre of music.
Alongside his Warrior Music compatriots he performed alongside Lil Jon and the East Side Boys, Monica and Keith Sweat, to name a few.
