EJ von Lyrik

EJ von Lyrik is a rapper, singer and producer from Cape Town, South Africa. Originally from the township of Mitchell's Plain on the Cape Flats, EJ started out in music around 1997 with a group called Neophytes. In 2001 she formed the all-female hip hop group Godessa together with Burni and 'Lady of Shame' Shameema and in that same year she started producing beats.
Godessa released two albums: 'Social ills' which came out in 2002 and 'Spillage' in 2004. The band toured abroad extensively.
In the years after, EJ focused on her solo work, releasing her first solo album 'Method in the madness' in 2008. She widened her musical spectrum, including influences from rock, reggae and other styles. EJ von Lyrik performs with a live band.
