Chemphe is a singer songwriter from Ghana. He discovered his love of music when singing in a school choir. Unlike the other students, Chemphe started to add his own lyrics to existing songs and that is how he started. Chemphe grew up in Tema, and attended Tema First Baptist School, Ghana National College, and NIIT. He started as a rapper in the group Outrageous, but it didn’t last long before going solo. He developed a style of his own, which he refers to as Urban Life, due to its fusion of soulful R&B, West African highlife and with urban pop music.
Chempe released his debut album 'No Pampanaa' in 2007. The title track 'No Pampanaa' contains a returning theme in his music: Love. With his single 'Why You Dey Treat Am Bad', a plea against domestic violence. The track won the Ghana Music Award for ‘Best Lyrics’.
