Meanwhile, last Friday night, police officers shot and killed a student, Kiprono Chumba, inside Kenyatta University’s Ruiru Campus because they assumed he was a thief fleeing arrest.

His college mates say Friday night was entertainment day in the campus, Kiprono danced and partied, lost his way and strayed to the women’s hostels. When someone raised alarm, the student took to his heels. In the confusion, Administration Police officers trailed the stunned and light-headed Kiprono, spraying him with bullets.
