Snip away. Ouch!

"It's numb, man, I can't feel a thing." That’s the improbably named Lovemore post-circumcision. The numbness will wear off, of course. Lovemore is one of the 3,000 who have undergone the minor operation since Zimbabwe's government launched a programme last year. The plan is to have 80% of all young male Zimbabweans circumcised in the next eight years.

So what, you may ask? And we ask, why on earth aren't all countries doing this? We’re not kidding. Here’s what the World Health Organisation has to say:

There is compelling evidence that male circumcision reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%.

60%! Did you know that? We didn't, until a few minutes ago. Why isn’t this being heavily promoted all over the world? It’s not 100%, but this is pretty #$*@ing high, don't you think? Promote this with condom use, and the results could be phenomenal. Anyone know why this isn’t happening everywhere? Drop us a comment, coz we have no idea.
