2008 marks a milestone in human history (as mentioned in the video, courtesy of boingboing), with more people living in urban areas worldwide than in rural areas.

With all the pre-Olympics coverage and hype, nobody wants to be left out, least of all the “street athletes” in Nairobi’s Majengo slum, such as the chaps in the video: Bag an imaginary gold with a bit of boxing, and settle a score while you’re at it.

The scene: Outside a pub selling “Busaa”, a traditional fermented drink.
The boxers: The guy dressed in a white vest bumped into the other guy, who had just stepped out of the Busaa pub to urinate.

The very first WAPI Uganda event ever, on the theme of “Creativity Unlimited”, took place on the 19th of July 2008, at Hotel Africana’s People Space.

WAPI (Words And Pictures), is a British Council initiative, with an aim of providing a platform for the local underground visual and verbal artists.
