All that glitters ain't gold, it's all about the ego.
With its classic soul vibe and a delivery to match, Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter BlackMagic (Efemena Mukoro) makes the misery of choice sound not so unpleasant in Rainbow, the second single from his debut album BlackMagic Version 1.0.
The single actually came out in April, and it was followed by a couple of months later by a video, but this now is the "proper" vid.
It was around this time last year that we first heard of BlackMagic. That was when he released Tomorrow, the first single from this album. The blend of Afrobeat rhythms and classic hip-hop was tight, but it was his delivery that won us over. It just felt so "natural", and we could easily imagine listening to him take us through an album's worth of material on a lazy afternoon. And then Rainbow came along and we thought, wow! Dude, release the album already!

Rainbow was followed in August by Foreigner, featuring fellow Gidian Saeon.

And finally, after a year of waiting, BlackMagic Version 1.0 is out and available through notjustok.com. No fixed date as yet for the iTunes release, but it's on the cards.
