Luanda No Horizonte, an Afro house mix from Angola

If you have been tuning in to TIA's saturday nights live from Cape Town, South Africa via African Hit Radio, you'll be familiar with the new sounds of South African house. But SA is not the only African country where house is both appreciated and produced. We just got word of a new mix by DJ Satelite, who Benjamin Lebrave in a piece for The Fader describes as a connector in the disunified Luanda music scene. With a background in both kuduro and house, Satelite is well connected locally but also outside of Angola, using the web as a platform (see the So Kuduro Facebook group and Satelite's own Soundcloud page).

Luanda No Horizonte is a gentle breeze of a mix: a clean sound, mid-tempo beat and soulful vocals, while there's a refreshing Angolan twist that makes this quite different from other Southern African house sets. Check it out on the Akwaabamusic website - over an hour of music for streaming or download.
