Download "Fine Lady", first single from Lynxxx's sophomore album

Lynxx & Joselyn Dumas

Lynxxx and the actress Joselyn Dumas

Fans of Nigerian music have been waiting for this video since early July when the hip hop artist turned singer Lynxxx (Chukie Edozie) posted this behind the scenes clip. The wedding reception-themed video, featuring Ghanaian actress Joselyn Dumas as the bride and cameos from several Nigerian music industry big names (such as Dr Sid, Waje, Sasha, Basket Mouth, Ms Jae, Oreka, Efya, ikon, ILL Rymz, BlackMagic, Beverly Naya, SDC, and Nedu), is perfectly fit for purpose, but we're pretty sure we're not alone in being reminded of the Clarence Peters/Banky W/Wizkid video for Pakurumo, particularly as Wizkid features in this one, too, providing a hook that references Fela Kuti's Lady.

We're more taken by the very danceable soukous-infused track itself - a shoe-in for TIA Hit Radio the moment we heard it; it's the first single from Lynxxx's forthcoming sophomore album Jollof Muzik, slated for a 2013 release.

Lynxxx, who's also a web and graphic designer, moved back to Lagos from the UK in 2009 and almost immediately grabbed a piece of the limelight with the release of  his debut single Change Ur Parade, earning himself nominations at the Nigerian Music Video Awards (NMVA) and Dynamix Awards and generating publicity for his debut album This Is Lynxxx. That album produced a few more hits, and was well received by critics, club DJs and music fans alike, and one had only to look at the calibre of the artists it featured (Wizkid, Banky W, Sarkodie, Mo' Cheddah, Efya, Naeto C, R2Bees, etc.) to know what league Lynxxx was playing in. We expect more heavyweight collaborations on Jollof Muzik, and no doubt there'll be a few more singles dropping between now and the album's release, so it's worth following Lynxxx on Twitter to know exactly when they land. Until then, enjoy Fine Lady.
