(DOWNLOAD, reflect, share the link)
The pleasure of listening to a song like Legacy tempered by the agony of not being able to share it immediately. I'm glad we can now, 'cos this is inspiring stuff, and beautifully delivered; it talks about humility, authenticity, determination, hunger for knowledge, the desire to make a positive difference to a world beyond our selfish selves. It's hip-hop, but it wouldn't be out of place on the gospel charts, and I mean that in a good way.
ProVerb (Tebogo Thekisho) seems to have dug even deeper than usual for this one, 'cos the words sound like they're flowing straight from the heart, with each verse bracketed by the clear, dulcet tones of Melina, a participant in the Avon Voices Singing Talent Search and name we will be hearing again. Very soon, I hope. Actually, you can hear more of that voice right now in the brief teasers she's got up on her Reverbnation page.
Meanwhile, ProVerb last single, The Beginning ft. Lungelo, is still riding high in the SA charts with the video in the running for a Channel O award in the "Most Gifted Hip-hop Video" category (ceremony in November). The star of this South African rapper, TV and radio personality, and Idols host continues to rise, and so it should with what he's doing with his lyrical skills.
Incidentally, The Beginning is also FREE TO DOWNLOAD, so waste no time in adding this too to your playlist, if you haven't already.
But but back to Legacy, and to the idea of legacy. People, what will our legacy be? If we each allow that question to guide our choices and decisions, we will surely leave this Earth a better place than we found it. Don't you think?
Legacy is out today, and you can holler at ProVerb on Twitter, Facebook or at his official site, and Melina on Facebook and Twitter.
