Fela meets De La Soul: Download "Fela Soul"

Wow! This must have taken some doing.

Nashville-based Rapper, Turntablist & Hip-Hop Producer Amerigo Gazaway seamlessly interweaves samples from Fela and De La Soul's music 's music to create Fela Soul, an absolutely inspired 8-track, 33-minute tapestry of Afrobeat, jazz, funk and hip-hop. Why? Because of the connections between the styles, the impact the artists have had on him and his music, and as a way to introduce Fela or De La Soul to music fans who may not have heard of these artists. And because it's a damned good idea!

Is there anyone out there who hasn't heard of Fela and De La Soul? Doesn't matter, 'cos this mix of funky horns and carefully-chosen a capellas turns the familiar into something new, fresh and original, and a treat for anyone who loves good music.

And it's free! Download Fela Soul at Bandcamp, and go give this dude a hi-five on Twitter.
