Swedish documentary-making duo Teddy Goitom & Benjamin Taft (not the two pictured above), chroniclers of street culture from Japan, USA, Australia and Europe now turn their attention to Africa in a new series of Stocktown films.
We've been looking forward to this since we saw the above teaser last year, but it finally looks like it's gonna happen. Starting with South Africa.
The aim is to go beyond the stereotypical daily reporting on war, famine and AIDS to capture the vibe on the street and present the upside perspective from the underground creative forces around big cities in Africa.
Stocktown X South Africa Part 1 stops off in Cape Town and Johannesburg to meet up with Ree-Burth, the alternative rock band from Soweto, stylesetters the Smarteez, video gamers label 2bop, limpop music genre innovator Gazelle, among others.
