Ghetto Radio Kenya enjoys Frends headphones donation

Have you ever experienced an HIV testing? Last December 2010 during the Serious Request event in Nairobi Kenya, some 2140 people got tested on HIV during the 6 days event. 49 (only?) turned out to be positive, the rest of the voluntary participants were able to enjoy their free headphones, provided to us by Frends. The distribution of the free 2,000 Grill headphones marched on in an orderly and grateful vibe.

The compilation of Nairobi citizens appreciating their new headphones in this video is mixed with some Spoek Mathambo 'Don't mean to be rude' videoclip samples.
What a big success the 2010 Serious Request edition has been. Thousands of people have been joining the event at Hilton Square Nairobi, to support the 3 DJs, going with no food for 6 days, in a joint appeal to fight the still uncontrolled outbursts of HIV and Aids in Africa.

The world has been watching (24/7 live video stream) a valid proof of Africa being able to contribute to its own problem solutions instead of the ever blazing depency from Western countries. And be aware. 2011 will feature even bigger, from December.

“Heart of Light” , the last words uttered publicly by democratically elected president Patrice Lumumba at his inauguration address, 3 months before his murder by Belgium and CIA because he dared to oppose the Western global forces of oppression and planned to keep the wealth of the Congo for the Congo.  Freedom and hope was killed in 1961, with disastrous consequences, but The Heart of Light can never die… more >
