Today USA celebrates Memorial Day, although this public holiday has already been celebrated for the full weekend. Now Memorial Day, which started off as Decoration Day in 1865, tributary to all black men who had fallen during the ending of America's Civil War. Nowadays the African-American society still claims this day as 'theirs' in memory of all fallen soldiers during wars over time.
For American Africans (or African African-Americans) it is basically a good opportunity to gather as a native society and use a true American tradition for their own social purposes.
Kenyans are gathering in Dallas - Texas, Tanzanians are celebrating in Columbus - Ohio, basically every community is spreading out to meet relatives back again.
How we do? Kenyan style mixing Memorial Day into their own:
We wish all African Americans a true African spirited Memorial Day.
